Resident Missionary Visa - Vitem VII
 
  • This type of visa can be issued to all persons who travel to Brazil for religious/missionary purposes without payment or labor contract with any Brazilian entity. This visa is issued for a stay period of one year, renewable;
     
  • Religious workers who intend to travel to Brazil as students of any level must apply for a Temporary Visa IV.

INTERNATIONAL VACCINATION

Yellow fever vaccination is recommended if applicant intends to visit one of the following regions in Brazil: Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Federal District, Goiás, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Pará, Rondônia, Roraima, Tocantins. 

PROCESSING TIME

             Please, plan your trip accordingly in order to have your visa issued on time. We do not expedite visa. In case of emergency, please come in person to the Consulate with all supporting documentation.

                         By mail: 15 business days. It also applies to those who submit their application in person but leave an Express mail in order to have their document returned by mail.
                     In person: 3 business days.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS 

              

    1)      Original passport (valid for at least 6 (six) months prior to its expiration date). The passport must have at least 2 (two) blank visa pages; 

    2)      One recent individual passport photo, full-frontal, white background; 

    3)      One electronic visa application form - click here. Please, make sure to provide full information, even those supposedly not required. If you leave any field blank, we may request you to provide that information what could cause your application to be delayed or even refused. Glue your picture (DO NOT STAPLE IT!) and sign on the appropriate field. 

    4)      Ordination certificate and/ or diploma and school transcript of religious studies; members of religious orders must present proof of their status.  

    5)      Curriculum vitae (detailed resume of past activities).  

    6)      As applicable, marriage, birth certificate or official dependency document for spouse/children/dependents.  

    7)      If applicable, a signed statement from applicant pledging not to engage in any activity in indigenous areas without the proper authorization by FUNAI (National Indian Foundation).  

    8)      Constitutive minutes/ statute/ other official document pertaining to the goals /function of the sponsoring Brazilian religious or missionary organization.  

    9)      Financial affidavit drawn at a Cartório (Notary Public) by the Brazilian religious or missionary organization assuming responsibility for applicant’s stay in Brazil as well as for applicant’s departure.  

    10)  Please note that all copies of Brazilian supporting documents must be notarized by a Cartório (Notary Public) in Brazil. 

    11)  Proof of residence within the consular jurisdiction for the past 12 months. 

    12)  Those applying either by mail or by a third party must present proof of residence within the jurisdiction of this Consulate (Florida, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Island): Driver’s License or any recent utility bill – issued within the past 90 days);

     

FEE 

  • The fee has to be paid by US Postal Money Order OR receipt provided by the ATM machine located at the Consulate's main lobby. The ATM only accepts cash and charges US$ 1.00 for the service.
  • We do not accept cash, personal check or any other form of payment not listed above.

 *Attention: if you are applying for an immediate family member, you are not required to pay the handling fee of US$ 20.00. 

VISAS BY MAIL  

  • Please allow 15 (fifteen) business days for processing of visa application and return of passport, not including transit time. This processing time applies from the moment application is received at the Consulate.
     
  • Inquiries about the status of your visa application will only be provided if the processing time required by this Office has passed. Please confirm at the Post Office with your tracking number the exact date your application was received at the Consulate, otherwise consular officers will not be able to provide you with any information.
     
  • The Consulate will receive correspondence sent by the U.S. Postal Service as well as all courier services (address the envelope to the attention of the Visa Section). However, the Consulate will only return documents via the U.S. Postal Service Express Mail. Applicants must therefore enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope for the return of their documents.
     
  • Incomplete or incorrect applications will be returned to sender.
     
  • The Consulate will not accept envelopes which contain more than one application. Such envelopes will be returned except when the documents belong to members of the immediate family.
     
  • The Consulate is not responsible for delayed, lost or stolen mail.
