This type of visa can
be issued to persons who travel to Brazil to work and/or perform any
services under contract, including scientists, researchers,
technicians or professionals, such as those individuals:

Providing services
of any kind to the Brazilian Government, particularly those arising
from international agreements to which Brazil is a party;
-
Contracted by a
company/corporation or other entity based in Brazil to work in the
country;
-
Providing services
or technical assistance without a work contract or employment
relationship with a corporation or entity based in Brazil;
-
Providing technical
assistance services arising from a contract, cooperation agreement
or similar instrument signed with a foreign corporation or other
legal entity without labor contract with the Brazilian party. This
visa may also be granted in case of emergency for a period up to 30
days non-renewable;
-
Undertaking
professional training, without a formal employment relationship,
immediately after the completion of university or
professional/vocational studies;
-
Enrolled in medical
residency programs at educational institution/hospital duly
accredited by the Ministry of Education;
-
Employed by a
foreign company and sent to work in Brazil, as trainees or interns,
at a subsidiary or branch of the foreign company, provided that they
are paid exclusively outside Brazil by the foreign company;
-
Who are foreign
instructors or professors traveling to Brazil to teach foreign
languages;
-
Professor,
scientists, high level researchers who intend to work in public or
private entities related to high studies, scientific and
technological research. This visa is issued for a maximum period of
2 years. If you intend to stay longer than that, you may qualify for
a Permanent Visa;

Who are crewmembers
of foreign vessels having to operate in Brazilian territorial waters
as required under a charter, service or risk contract with a
Brazilian company;
-
Who are crewmembers
of fishing vessels leased by a Brazilian Company;
-
Who are crewmembers
or other professionals performing paid activities aboard cruise
ships along the Brazilian coastline, the Amazon River basin or other
inland waterways;
-
Professional
athletes contracted by a Brazilian sport-related Company to perform
sport activities with payment.

Work visa
applications must be submitted directly to the Brazilian Ministry of

The Consulate can only process applications once the proper
authorization is received from Brazil.

Yellow
fever vaccination is recommended if applicant will travel to one of
the following regions in Brazil: Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Federal
District, Goiás, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Pará,
Rondônia, Roraima, Tocantins.
PROCESSING TIME
Please, plan your trip accordingly in order to have
your visa issued on time. We do not expedite visa. In case of
emergency, please come in person to the Consulate with all supporting
documentation.
By
mail:
10 business days. It also applies to those who submit
their application in person but leave an Express mail in order to have
their document returned by mail.
In person: 3 business days.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
Once proper authorization from the Brazilian Ministry of Labor or
other appropriate regulatory body is obtained:
1)
Original passport (valid for at least 6 (six) months prior to
its expiration date). The passport must have at least 2 (two) blank
visa pages;
2)
One recent individual passport photo, full-frontal, white
background;
3)

Please, make sure to provide full information, even those supposedly
not required. If you leave any field blank, we may request you to
provide that information what could cause your application to be
delayed or even refused.
Glue your
picture (DO NOT STAPLE IT!) and sign on the appropriate field.
4)
Yellow Fever International Certificate (when applicable);
5)
Proof of residence within the jurisdiction of this Consulate
for the past 12 months (Florida, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Island):
Driver’s License or utility bills issued within the past 12
months);
6)
Brazilian citizens must travel to Brazil with a Brazilian
passport. Those who have renounced the Brazilian citizenship must
present proof;
7)
Recent non-criminal record certificate issued by applicant's
local Police Department.
8)
Those applying either by mail or by a third party must
present proof of residence within the jurisdiction of this Consulate
(Florida, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Island): Driver’s License or any
recent utility bill – issued within the past 90 days);
Applicants traveling to Brazil
to provide services or technical assistance, without a work contract
or employment relationship with the Brazilian-based
entity/corporation, must submit the following additional documents:
1) A letter of invitation from the Brazilian entity inviting
applicant to provide technical services in the country;
2) A letter from the entity specifying the place and condition
of the work to be performed by the applicant;
3)
A letter from the Brazilian entity assuming responsibility
for all maintenance expenses associated with applicant's stay in
Brazil as well as his repatriation to his/her country of origin upon
the termination of his work in Brazil;
4) Copy of a health insurance policy, valid in Brazil, on behalf
of applicant;
5) An official document from sponsoring entity in Brazil (such
as statute, founding charter, etc.) as well as proof of the entity’s
registration with the competent regulatory body;
6) Proof that the inviting entity in Brazil is in business and
functioning..
FEE

The fee has to be
paid by US Postal Money Order OR receipt provided by the ATM machine
located at the Consulate's main lobby. The ATM only accepts cash and
charges US$ 1.00 for the service.

VISAS BY MAIL

Please allow 12
(twelve) business days for processing of visa application and return
of passport, not including transit time. This processing time
applies from the moment application is received at the Consulate.

Inquiries about
the status of your visa application will only be provided if the
processing time required by this Office has passed. Please confirm
at the Post Office with your tracking number the exact date your
application was received at the Consulate, otherwise consular
officers will not be able to provide you with any information.

The Consulate will
receive correspondence sent by the U.S. Postal Service as well as
all courier services (address the envelope to the attention of the
Visa Section). However, the Consulate will only return documents via
the U.S. Postal Service Express Mail. Applicants must therefore
enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope for the return of their
documents.

Incomplete or
incorrect applications will be returned to sender.

The Consulate will
not accept envelopes which contain more than one application.
Such envelopes will be returned
except when the documents belong to members of the immediate family.
