Elegibility
This type of visa can be issued to persons who wish to
travel to Brazil for short- term professional purposes that do not
involve payment of wages/ salary or financial compensation from a
Brazilian entity; it is applicable to:
Short- term business trips;
Journalists, cameramen, news correspondents;
Persons intending to adopt children in Brazil;
Business Visa (Vitem II) holders are not allowed to
engage in any paid activity under employment contract with a Brazilian
entity.
Business Visas (Vitem II) can be issued with a
validity of up to 5 years and allow for stays of up to 90 days, with
multiple entries.
Bearers of a Business Visa (Vitem II) intending to
stay in Brazil for longer than 90 days must request at the Federal
Police Department in Brazil an extension within the first 30 days of
their first entry into the country.
The total stay in Brazil cannot exceed 180 days per
year.
Required Documents
Original passport (valid for at least 6 (six)
months prior to its expiration date). The passport must have at least
2 (two) blank visa pages.
One recent individual passport photo, full-frontal,
white background.
One Visa Application Form duly filled-out (items 1
through 27) and signed, in the original; the Consulate will not accept
forms sent by fax.
Notarized letter from the employer of sponsoring
company, clearly stating the precise nature of business, dates of
arrival and departure, and financial responsibility for the costs of
the trip (the letter must be on an official company letterhead or
stationary, signed by a senior manager, introducing the applicant and
specifying his/her job/position in the company).
Applicants intending to take part in the
production/ filming of documentary, commercial or advertisement videos
or motion pictures must submit a permit from the Ministry of Culture (Secretaria
para o Desenvolvimento Audiovisual), which is to be obtained by the
interested party's agent/representative in Brazil prior to the
issuance of the visa.

Fees
The fee for a Business Visa (Vitem II) is US $60.00 (US
Postal Money Order only)
United States citizens will be charged an additional non-refundable
processing fee of US $130.00 per visa, in reciprocity to an identical
fee paid by Brazilian citizens who apply for a Visa to the United
States. (The total fee is $190.00).
A non-refundable handling fee of US $10.00 per visa applies to visa
applications submitted by mail or by any other person other than the
applicant or an immediate family member.
Payments accepted only in US Postal money order.
For citizens of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, all fees must be paid
with American Express or Thomas Cook money orders only.
