Permanent Visa - Viper

Eligibility:

Permanent visas may be granted to individuals intending to establish residence in Brazil. To qualify for application at the Brazilian Consulate General in Miami, you must reside within our jurisdiction (Florida, Puerto Rico and US Virgin Islands) for at least one year.
To request the authorization for a permanent visa the applicant must come in person.

Issuance of a Permanent Visa may be considered if the applicant:

Has previous authorization from the Ministry of External Relations, requested by the employer,  presenting contract of work approved by the Ministry of Labor in Brazil;
Shows proof of financial means to promote a direct investment in Brazil (for a minimum amount of US $200,000.00);
Is a retired person whose pension (minimum of US $2,000.00 per month per person) can be regularly transferred to Brazil. Click here for a list of procedures for transfer of pension funds;
Is a member of the clergy and belongs to a religious order or congregation established in Brazil;
One is a relative of a Brazilian citizen or alien permanent resident in Brazil.

Required Documents:

Proof of residence (income tax, telephone bill or other).

Passport - original or certified copy showing name, number, place, date of issuance and date of expiration.

Certificate of birth.

Certificate of marriage (if applicable).

Police certificate of no criminal record issued within 90 days, for applicants over 16 years of age.

All documents must be previously notarized by the same Public Notary (to be chosen among those registered at this Consulate) and legalized by the Consulate General of Brazil in Miami. Legalization fee: US $60.00 in US Postal Money Order ONLY, issued in favor of “Consulate General of Brazil in Miami”.
 

After visa issuance authorization is received, applicant must present the following documentation:

Two Visa Application Forms (.pdf), duly filled-out (items 1 through 27) and signed, in the original; the Consulate will not accept forms sent by Fax.

Valid passport (Minimum validity 6 months). Passport must have at least two blank VISA pages. Note: the "Amendment Pages" are NOT blank pages and visas cannot be stamped on them.

Two individual photos, PASSPORT SIZE (2X2") TYPE ONLY, front view, uncovered.
   

Fees:

The fee for a Permanent Visa (Viper) is US $200.00 (US Postal Money Order Only) for all citizens.

United States citizens will be charged an additional non-refundable processing fee of US $130.00 per visa, in reciprocity to an identical fee paid by Brazilian citizens who apply for a Visa to the United States.

A non-refundable handling fee of US $10.00 per visa applies to visa applications submitted by mail or by any other person other than the applicant or an immediate family member.

Payments are accepted in US Postal money order or receipt provided by the ATM machine located at the Consulate's main lobby. The ATM only accepts cash and charges US$ 1.00 for the service.

US CITIZENS WILL PAY US $300.00 FOR A PERMANENT VISA, WHEN APPLYING IN PERSON, OR US $310.00, WHEN APPLYING BY MAIL (PLUS THE US $60.00 LEGALIZATION FEE).
