Permanent Visa - Family Reunion - Viper


Please read carefully the
Visa General Information page before applying for any type of visa. That page contains important information that is common to all types of visa.

Required Documents

A previous authorization from the Ministry of External Relations is needed for the issuance of a permanent visa for the spouse of a Brazilian citizen (claimant) or an alien permanent resident in Brazil (claimant). To request the authorization for a permanent visa the applicant and the claimant must come in person bearing the following documentation (all original documents):

 
Claimant's Brazilian Documents (original documents)

Identification card (carteira de identidade brasileira or RNE)

Notarized affidavit of financial support.
 
 
Applicant's Documents (original documents)
1
Two Visa Application Forms (PDF), duly filled-out (items 1 through 27) and signed, in the original; the Consulate will not accept forms sent by Fax;

Two recent passport photos, front view, full face, white background;
3
Valid passport (valid for at least six months prior to its expiration). Passport must have at least two blank VISA pages. Note: the "Amendment Pages" are NOT blank pages and visas cannot be stamped on them;
4
Certificate of birth (if applicable);
5
Certificate of marriage (if applicable), registered by a Brazilian Consulate;
6
Passport or other travel document;
7
Police certificate of no criminal record issued within 90 days, for applicants over 16 years old.

Judicial authorization and proof of custody (in case of minor son or daughter of divorced parents).
 

Note: All documents must be legalized by the Consulate General of Brazil. Please contact the Legalization Department or click here for more information.

After this Consulate General receives an authorization from the Ministry of Foreigner Affairs, applicant must present valid passport (valid for at least six months prior to its expiration). Passport must have at least two blank VISA pages. Note: the "Amendment Pages" are not blank pages and visas cannot be stamped on them.


Fees

The fee for a Permanent Visa - Family Reunion (Viper) is US $200.00 for all citizens.

United States citizens will be charged an additional non-refundable processing fee of US $130.00 per visa, in reciprocity to an identical fee paid by Brazilian citizens who apply for a Visa to the United States.

A non-refundable handling fee of US $10.00 per visa applies to visa applications submitted by mail or by any other person other than the applicant or an immediate family member.

Payments are accepted in US Postal money order payable to "Brazilian Consulate General in Miami" or receipt provided by the ATM machine located at the Consulate's main lobby. The ATM only accepts cash and charges US$ 1.00 for the service. .

US CITIZENS WILL PAY US $300.00 FOR A PERMANENT VISA, WHEN APPLYING IN PERSON, OR US $310.00, WHEN APPLYING BY MAIL (PLUS THE US $60.00 LEGALIZATION FEE).
