Jurisdiction

The Consulate-General of Brazil in Miami issues visas only for residents in its jurisdiction : Florida,  Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands. The applicant must present proof of residence (copy of driver's license) when applying by mail or through a third party.
If you reside out of these regions, please refer to the list of Brazilian Consulates in the USA to find the Consular office assigned to your area.
First Entry

You must enter Brazil within 90 days from the date your visa was issued; otherwise that visa will no longer be valid. After entering the country, you may stay up to 90 days from the date of entry, unless otherwise stated in the visa.
 

International Vaccination Certificate

Applicants who have visited any of the countries listed below within the previous 90 days, must present a  Yellow Fever International Certificate upon entering Brazil.
Angola, Benin, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cabo Verde, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Colombia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Ecuador, French Guyana,     Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Kenia, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Panama, Peru, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Surinam, Tanzania, Togo, Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda, Venezuela.

Yellow fever vaccination is recommended if applicant intends to visit one of the following regions in Brazil:
Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Federal District, Goiás, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Pará, Rondônia, Roraima, Tocantins.
 

Visas for Minors

Applicants under 18 years of age must present the birth certificate and a notarized letter of consent signed by both parents or legal guardian(s) authorizing the Consulate General of Brazil to issue a visa for the minor applicant.

Please note: although Brazilian authorities do not legally require written authorization for US citizens under 18 years of age to travel without both or one of the parents, we do recommend that minors in this situation entering Brazil or traveling within the country to carry such a document

 
Visas at the Counter
  • Applicant must reside within the Consulate's jurisdiction when applying through an agent or third party.
  • Visa applications will be received from 10 am to 12 noon only.
  • If approved,  the visa will be ready for pick-up  in two business days,  from  3 pm to 4 pm only.
  • Please note that the Consulate does not issue same day visas, unless in case of a documented medical emergency.
Visas by Mail (Application for Permanent Visas must be done in person)
  • When applying by mail, applicant must reside within the Consulate's jurisdiction. Please present proof of residence (copy of driver's license).
     
  • Please allow 12 (twelve) business days for processing of visa application and return of passport, not including transit time. This processing time applies from the moment application is received at the Consulate.
     
  • The Consulate General of Brazil will receive correspondence sent by the U.S. Postal Service as well as all courier services (address the envelope to the attention of the Visa Section).

    However, the Consulate will only return documents via the U.S. Postal Service: Priority or Express Mail. Applicants must therefore enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope for the return of their documents. 
     
  • Incomplete or incorrect applications will be returned to sender.
     
  • The Consulate will not accept envelopes which contain more than one application. Such envelopes will be returned.
     
  • The Consulate is not responsible for delayed, lost or stolen mail.
Fees

This office will accept US Postal Service money order payable to Consulate General of Brazil, or receipt provided by the ATM machine located at the Consulate's main lobby. The ATM only accepts cash and charges US$ 1.00 for the service.
Do not send cash, either for fee or postage, by mail.
Fees vary depending on the visa type.

Please confirm at the Post Office with your tracking number the exact date your application was received at the Consulate.
