Death Registration
To register a Brazilian citizen's death, please come to the Consulate-General with the death certificate.
Shipment of Corpse to Brazil
Required documents
 
  • Death certicate (5 copies)

  • Embalming or cremation certicate (notarized)

  • Certicate of non-contagious diseases issued by the HRS

  • Authorization for shipment issued by the HRS

  • Passport


Cost

Money order of US 160.00 issued by the US Postal Service (available at any Post Office agency), payable to Consulate General of Brazil. No other type of payment is accept by the Consulate.


By Mail

Enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope for the return of the documents .

The Consulate General of Brazil will receive correspondence sent via the U.S. Postal Service as well as all courier services (address the envelope to the attention of the Legalization Section).

However, the Consulate will only return documents via the U.S. Postal Service, such as Priority or Express Mail. The consulate will not return any documents via courier services such as DHL, FEDEX, UPS, AIRBORNE or others. The Consulate recommends that applicants use mail/courier services that provide a tracking number. The Consulate cannot be held responsible for lost or delayed mail.
