Topic: ”Brazilian Culture: Enriched by the Diversity of its
People”
Contest Rules and Regulations
1. The Consulate-General of Brazil in Miami is
promoting, for the second year, a poster contest open to all
full-time elementary school students attending Broward County Public
Schools.
2. There will be three cash prizes awarded for the
best entries: 1st place, $500, 2nd place, $300 and 3rd place, $100.
3. Entries must be original works on the theme ”Brazilian
Culture: Enriched by the Diversity of its People” Students shall
express – by a drawing in crayon or pencil, or a watercolor or oil
painting – the information they gathered researching the theme. The
minimum size for entry is an 11x17 paper or canvas. An explanatory
note about the design must accompany the drawing or painting. The
description should be no longer than 10-20 lines. Attention to
grammar, punctuation, spelling and style in the explanatory note is
expected.
4. The works have to demonstrate the research done and will be
judged on originality and creativity.
5. All entries must be turned in to the school on or before
January 25th, 2008 to be eligible. The Diversity & Cultural Outreach
Department shall set up the procedures for the collection of the
posters by the schools.
6. Each student may enter only one
poster. The entries must be
submitted unsigned.
7. There must be, at least, six qualified
posters under the
present Rules and Regulations – if this number is not met, the
contest shall be cancelled.
8. Judging the entries will be a two-part process. Preliminary
judging will be conducted at community level by March 5th. The
procedures for the pre-selection of the posters will be established
by the Diversity and Cultural Outreach Department. After the
pre-selection of posters by the Panel, the Diversity & Cultural
Outreach Department will forward selected entries to the
Consulate-General of Brazil in Miami to be judged by the Main
Commission.
9. The Main Commission will be headed by the Consul- General and
integrated, at least, by a representative from the Board, the
Diversity and Cultural Outreach Department, the Broward County
Public Schools PTA, the Cultural Center Brazil-USA, the Cultural
Sector of the Consulate-General of Brazil and a representative from
the Brazilian arts community. The Main Commission shall select the
best three posters, for the cash prizes and an additional seven,
who will receive a book on Brazil. The Consulate-General shall, at
this point, match the posters with the entry form to identify the
winners, who will be notified by March 21st, 2008.
10. Winners, parents, and teachers will be invited to an award
ceremony by April 2008, where the students will be recognized.
11. An exhibition to display the winning posters shall be
organized by the Consulate-General of Brazil and the Diversity &
Cultural Outreach Department.
12. Entries become the property of the Consulate-General of
Brazil in Miami. By participating in this competition, entrants
agree to the rules and the decisions of the judges, which shall be
final in all respects.

ENTRY FORM
The Consulate-General of Brazil is sponsoring the 2nd poster
contest for all elementary school students in Broward County’s
Public Schools. The winners will be notified in March, 2008
and the prizes and awards will be presented at a ceremony in April,
2008, date to be confirmed.
All entries must be original works of art on the theme of
”Brazilian Culture: Enriched by the Diversity of its People”.
All entries must be turned in to your school no later than
January 25th, 2008. The Diversity & Cultural Outreach Department
shall set up the procedures for the collection of drawings by the
schools, which shall be included as attachment to the Rules and
Regulations.
